Instrument Design and Studies

In creating this instrument, my colleague (Hugh Inglis) and I wanted to be able to teach younger students about basic signal processing and Sound FX in DAWs. I cut some wood for the board and keys which are hinged together. Behind the backboard is a bread board which acts a junction between the various buttons and motors I’d wired so that when they’re pressed the board comes to life allowing the user to place them near a microphone and experiment with different FXs.

There was minimal wiring, it was more about creating a design that made you curious as to what the “thing” in front of you does.
